Chocolate Egg Nest Treats

#25

It's almost Easter weekend, and Spring time is in full bloom here in Washington.
I can't think of a better treat to make for the weekend than these Egg Nests!

Enjoy!

recipe and photo courtesy of IHeartNapTime

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups chow mein noodles
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 12 ounces 12-ounce bag mini Cadbury eggs
  • Yellow frosting

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the chow mein noodles in a large bowl. Then melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips at 50% power for 1 minute, or until melted. You could also melt over a double broiler. Stir, until smooth.
  • Reserve about 1 Tablespoons of the milk chocolate. Then pour the milk chocolate and butterscotch over noodles and stir until coated. Spray a silicone muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray. Then add a large spoonful of the mixture to the muffin cup. Press lightly in the center of the cup to form the nest. Then with the remaining chocolate in the bowl, dip the back of the Cadbury egg and place in the middle of the nests. Then using a toothpick, dip the top end into the remaining chocolate and add 2 eyes. Then if desired, add a tiny dot of yellow frosting for the beak.
  • Enjoy!

#32 Cadbury Egg Bundt Cake

#32 Bundt Cake is Cadbury Egg.
My favorite candy at Halloween is Candy Corn.
My favorite candy at Valentine's are the Sweet Heart Candies
And my favorite Easter candy is the Cadbury Egg!!!

So obviously, I am super excited about this bundt cake!

Shopping List
1 box of chocolate cake mix
2 small boxes of instant chocolate pudding
1/2 cup of veggie oil
1 1/4 water
 4 eggs
7 Cadbury Creme Eggs (the regular sized ones, not the mini size ones), roughly chopped
4 cups powdered sugar
1 stick butter, softened
3-4 splashes of  milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease (I use Pam) a 10 inch bundt pan

In mixing bowl, combine cake mix, puddings, oil, water and eggs with electric mixer.  Stir in 4 of your chopped Cadbury Creme Eggs.   Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 40-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cake rest on counter in pan 10 minutes.  Then, invert cake onto serving plate to finish cooling.

To make the frosting, beat butter with powdered sugar and milk until creamy.  Stir in vanilla extract. Spread on cooled cake.  Top with remaining 3 Cadbury Creme Eggs roughly chopped.

Disclaimer **
Your fingers will get super sticky chopping up the cadbury eggs!
But it's okay.  Just lick your fingers clean!

Easter Egg Craft

The girls and I have been baking ALOT lately (what's new right! We are always in the kitchen) So the other day we decided to get crafty! We sat down and found an Easter craft online that we all liked and agreed on - and that was Easter Eggs made from using balloons and embroidery floss.

So we went and bought some balloons, elmer's glue which we diluted with water, and different colors of embroidery floss.

Then the fun (and mess) began!

It took several hours for the glue to dry!

Then we popped the balloons and you have cool looking Easter eggs!

Edible Easter Baskets

I found these Edible Easter Basket treats online and knew I wanted to make them.
The recipe needed cupcake mix, white icing, coconut, green food coloring, candies, pipe cleaners, and ribbon. I had all the ingredients on hand, so I didn't waste any time trying to recreate these baskets myself.

I used a box of regular white cake mix. Follow the instructions to make 24 cupcakes.

I already had jelly beans, duck and rabbit shaped sweet-tarts, and some other small candies on hand. You can obviously choose whatever candies you would like to place into your cupcake basket.
Place a handful of coconut into a zip lock bag, along with several drops of green coloring gel. Shake the bag to mix the coconut and gel for your Easter Basket grass.

Kate was more than eager to help me with this fun recipe
Once your cupcakes have cooled, frost around the edges. I took a container of white frosting and scooped it into a zip lock bag. Cut a corner off of the zip lock bag and slowly squeeze the frosting out through that corner. Then place your green coconut grass in the center. Cut one pipe cleaner in half, bend it and stick each end into the cupcake. Place your candies on the grass and tie a small ribbon on the pipe cleaner..

So fun to make and even better to eat!
