Toothbrush and Tooth Cookies

Bear with me, as the next few posts are all about cut out cookies.

I keep my 'baking' pictures on my phone but I want to have them here as well.

Trying to get organized, I guess.

A few weeks ago I was at our local bakery store and noticed they had a toothbrush and tooth cutter.

I knew I had a dental appointment the following week, PLUS my dentist had just moved into her new office..  So I immediately thought toothbrush and tooth cookies would be the perfect

"Welcome To Your New Office" gift.

They turned out so cute and were a huge hit!

Graduation Cap Cookies

What a fun graduation season this was!

We knew so many seniors graduating...and two were in our family!

Both of my nieces graduated from high school!

Congratulations to:

Mackenzie Morgan - Summa Cum Laude from Gulf Coast High School

Bryn Morgan - Magna Cum Laude from Musselman High School

Kate had dozens of friends graduating, too!

There were lots of graduation parties to attend and one of our friends asked me to make glitter gold and white graduation caps for her graduation party!  96 of them!

These were so fun to make!

Congratulations to Mackenzie and Bryn, and all our friends who graduated 2016!

Wishing you a safe, fun, and amazing journey in this next chapter of yours!

Baby Shower Cookies

Kate's dance team recently hosted a baby shower for their assistant dance director.  I was asked to make some cookies for the shower.  The baby is due in August, and the sex will be a surprise..  So instead of neutral color cookies, I opted to make half pink and half blue.

I'm on Team Pink, by the way..  I just know it's a girl!

Bottles, carriages, pacifiers, and rattles.

My dogs - Cookies

When it's a rainy day outside and you decide to pull out your Golden Retriever, Schnauzer, and dog bone cookie cutters....

I present to you..

Bogart and Bismark..

In cookie form.

Gone Fishin' Cookies

A friend of mine has a son on the high school fishing team.  When she texted me "Can you make some fish cookies for the fishing club party?"my immediate response was "never done a fish before."

But I'm glad I told her I would experiment and see what I could come up with. These were so much fun to make.  I made the fish, used my ornament cutter to make bobbers, and used my rectangle cutter to make 'gone fishin" signs.

Then I tossed in some fun fishing pole/fish cupcakes, just for kicks.

Definitely one of my favorites themes to make now!

Thanks for thinking of me, G!

Football Cookies

This week I was going to make a huge batch of cut-out cookies for an event supporting our school district.  That order was cancelled within hours of it being made, but I had already started experimenting with the cookies in regards to the theme of the event.

Needless to say, when it cancelled, I really needed someone to take the cookies off my hands

before I ate them all - because I do that.  All. The.Time.

So I immediately thought about my next door neighbor who plays 5th grade football.

His mom said she would gladly take them and hand them out to the football team this week at practice.

These were fun to make!  Glad they were able to get into someone else's belly, instead of mine!

Back to School Cookies

What did we do the weekend before school begins?

We baked Back to School cookies!

We made these in less than 2 hours so they aren't fine tuned by any means.  I mean, come on, look at those irregular circle school bus wheels, or look how sloppy those flag stripes look...

But it's the idea and fun that counts, right!

Always a fun day in the kitchen when it involves theme cookies.

Majestic Cookies

Kate is on the Majestic Dance Team for her high school.  I have really enjoyed baking for the team.  I seem to get excited about baking when I have a theme I can use...In this case, it's dancers.

40 dance team members means baking and decorating 40 dancers

Then this week, the team needed a sugary treat to reward them for completing their first week of camp.  I opted to do Majestic crown cookies...

Love baking for my dancing girls!

Super Bowl XVLI Jerseys

We were invited to a Super Bowl party, and each guest was asked to bring a dish.

Since I'd rather bake than cook, I opted to take on the daunting task of creating jersey cookies for each team, the Patriots and the Giants.

Using a t-shirt cookie cutter, I began making my cut-outs with a bag of sugar cookie mix.

I bake a lot, but I generally do NOT go for cut-out cookies as my first option because I make the biggest mess using cookie cutters!

Instead of making a jersey for each team member on each team, I opted just to make jerseys for the offensive line starters on each team. This meant 11 cookies for each team, 22 total.

It took two bags of sugar cookie mix...and that was the easy part.

I had to look online to see what jersey each team would be wearing for the Super Bowl game. Giants will be wearing white. Patriots will be wearing blue.

I saw an online tutorial awhile back about outlining your cookies with icing before filling the cookie in with it. I did just that and it ended up being a saving grace because I did not have any icing dripping off the side of the cookies. The cookies looked clean and neat!

Once the icing outline hardened a bit, then I proceeded to fill in the cookie with icing that was just a bit thinner in consistency.

Now I had my 11 white Giant jerseys, and my 11 blue Patriot jerseys...

Then the hard part... Decorating the jerseys. The Giants white jersey has three red stripes on each sleeve and the Patriots have one red stripe on each sleeve and a red collar. Then I added each offensive starters name and # on a their jersey.

Brent thought it would be cool to take this picture, symbolizing exactly how the offensive players would be lined up during game time!

I can't wait to share these cookies at the Super Bowl Party!!!
